enGenetic tests
ProHerper is able to offer genetic tests on ball pythons to test the genetics. This means you can now test if a possible het is a 100% het!
Which tests are available?

We're happy to announce we can now also offer sex determination tests for green tree pythons! This test is available for 65 euros, with discounts for higher quantities.
This test works for green tree python (Morelia viridis)! We're working on expanding this test to other Morelia species.
Several Panel tests are now available for ball pythons, and have the same turnaround time as any other morph test:
- Full panel test (125 Eur): Checks all available morph tests.
- Dinker panel test (195 Eur): Checks all available morph tests + checks if the morph is allelic to any known morph. Homozygous (super/visual) sample is recommended.
- Recesive panel test (95 Eur): Checks all available recessive morphs.
- Spider complex test (80 Eur): Checks all available Spider complex morphs.
- BEL complex test (80 Eur): Checks all available BEL complex morphs.

How do I test my shed?
Collect your shed
Collect a dry shed from the animal you want to test. The minimum needed is a shed the size of your hand palm. If it is a baby, collect the complete shed. This can be used to perform up to five tests. Gently try to remove as much substrate as possible, but it doesn’t matter if there is some substrate that sticks to the shed (e.g. some remaining cocos).
If the shed is not dry, you can dry it on a surface in your house (Do not dry it in the sun or the test will fail). If the shed was wet for too long, the test will not work. So always collect fresh sheds for the testing procedure. You do not need to collect additional sheds if you want to perform multiple tests on the same animal.
Classify and store
Fill in a paper containing:
Your name
Your email address
The snake’s ID (to identify the snake, can be a name or a number)
The morph
The tests you want to perform.
Only sheds containing this information will be tested! Place the test card, together with the shed, in a closed Ziploc bag and store it in a dry room at room temperature or in the freezer. Sheds stored in the freezer will be less likely to fail during a test. A dry shed can easily be stored for 3 months. If you wish to store the shed longer please put it in the freezer.
Send your shed
The Ziploc bag is now ready for delivery to ProHerper Labs. This can be done by handing over the shed at any Houten or Hamm show, or you can sent the bags to the following address via conventional mail: ProHerper Labs, Wijngaardstraat 27, 3290 Diest, Belgium. If the shed was stored in the freezer you do not need to keep it cold during transport.
